Why goat milk?
We are frequently asked ‘why is milk so great for skin?’ Goat milk products are fantastic for all skin types, but particularly those with dry skin, sensitive skin, or other skin issues. Below, are a few important reasons goat milk does wonders for skin.
Goat milk is a natural emollient.
It is packed with skin soothing proteins, vitamins, and minerals, as well as capric and capryllic triglycerides that leave skin feeling silky smooth, supple, and moisturized.
It contains lactic acid, a natural exfoliator, and alpha-hydroxy for softening and rejuvenating the skin. Both lactic acid and alpha-hydroxy are often found in high-end anti-aging products
The pH of goat milk soap is very near that of skin, so the natural oil barrier of the skin remains intact, and your skin retains its natural moisture.
At times, people are unsure what to think about goat milk bath products because they are still a rare, luxury item. We get a lot of questions, and we’ve listed a few of our most frequent questions below. Please contact us if you have need further information. Sometimes the best way to answer your questions if you are uncertain is to simply try them!
Does goat milk smell? Do the products smell ‘goaty’?
Not at all! Our products smell wonderful. If goat milk is handled properly, it doesn’t smell (or taste) any differently than cow milk. People often expect the milk to smell like chevre cheese. The ‘goaty’ smell in chevre develops due to the culturing process and is not native to the milk.
So, how do you handle the milk?
Our does are milked by hand every morning. We take special care to sterilize anything that will touch the milk, like the milk pail for example. As soon as we finish, the milk is moved into our work room, pressure pasteurized, then vacuum cooled. The milk is decanted into sterilized glass containers and refrigerated until we are ready to use the milk.
